AutismAble is coming to Sunderland!

New site in Sunderland

AutismAble is excited to announce that we’re opening a site at Pop Recs.

Here, new and existing members will learn work, independent living and creative skills.

The new site will launch in Spring 2023 and will be a temporary base until we find a more permanent home in the area.

The new location offers a spacious environment for those wishing to join our service. Pop Recs’ excellent transport links will mean easier access for people living in Sunderland and its neighbouring areas.

Members aged 16 and over with learning disabilities, difficulties or autism will get to enrol on our AchievAble, EmployAble and ExpressionAble pathways.

AutismAble Service Manager, Karen Baines, said:

“Neurodivergent people are at the heart of everything we do. Over the last eight years, we have worked with hundreds of people across Tyneside, and it is hugely exciting to be opening the doors to our new Sunderland location very soon.

It has been a pleasure working with Pop Recs, an organisation that shares our passion for improving opportunities for adults with special educational needs”.

Founded in 2015, AutismAble provides opportunities for neurodivergent people and empowers them to live their most fulfilling life. Our service ranges from personalised life-long learning to independence and preparation for adulthood, developing the skills and experience needed for employment and encouraging members to build confidence and establish friendships.

Our incredibly talented musicians have already staged many live events at Pop Recs, and now, we will be using the space to deliver some of our pathway sessions too.
