AutismAble members have something to root for! We’re excited to announce that we’ve been generously gifted not one but two allotment plots at the beautiful Souter Lighthouse in Whitburn.
It all started when National Trust and Explore SeaScapes reached out to us in November 2023, proposing a community garden project in partnership with Age Concern UK.
With many people across the country experiencing isolation during the pandemic, the goal is to create a sense of community through enjoying the great outdoors.
We’re incredibly grateful to the National Trust and Explore SeaScapes for this wonderful opportunity. We know it’s something that will not only be great for our member’s physical health but their mental health too. The sense of community they’ll feel will be invaluable, and they’ll gain important skills such as coordination, responsibility, teamwork, and time management along the way.
Our green-fingered members are already off to a blooming great start! Keep up with our progress by following us on Facebook and Instagram, and don’t miss out on the chance to see their gardening skills blossom.
