What is Building Futures?

We’re delighted to introduce you to Building Futures, a brand-new 12-week project designed to help young people aged 14-25 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) gain confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

What’s Involved:

  • Future Bites
    Gain real-world experience in a safe and supportive setting with our Sea Change Training Café.
  • Future Skills
    Fun-filled workshops in cooking, budgeting, and communication to help prepare for adult life.
  • Future Connect
    Exciting gaming, cinema, and outdoor adventures where you can meet new people and have fun together!

Why Building Futures?

Thanks to the support of the National Lottery Community Fund, Building Futures will run from April 2025 to March 2027, giving 200 young people with SEND the chance to build skills and gain hands-on experience. Like all of our pathways and projects, Building Bridges will take a person-centred approach, ensuring that each individual is supported in a way that meets their unique needs and goals.

Building Futures is designed specifically for young people aged 14-25 with SEND. If you or someone you know is looking to build essential life skills and gain real-life work experience, this program could be a great fit!
The project will run over a 12-week period, with various activities and workshops scheduled throughout that time. Our first round will begin in April 2025, with the project continuing through to March 2027.
No, participation in the Building Futures program is completely free of charge, thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.

Yes! Building Futures is designed to support people at all skill levels. Whether you have previous experience or are just starting out, we provide a safe, supportive environment to help you develop at your own pace.
While we cannot guarantee employment, the hands-on work experience, skills training, and confidence-building you’ll gain from the project will help prepare you for the workforce.
