AutismAble offer a range of services to suit your needs, we often get calls and enquiries with questions that we are always happy to answer but to save some time we’ve put together some frequently asked questions.

No – our services may benefit anyone who prefers smaller groups and calmer environments. Our aim is to be as accessible and inclusive as possible. Some people who attend AutismAble have neither Autism or a Learning Disability.

The majority of our courses are completely FREE subject to funding eligibility rules set by the Education and Skills Funding Agency.  A staff member will sort all of this out for you.

Yes, AutismAble has a fully equipped relaxation room that also acts as a sensory room for anyone who needs it. We have a soft sofa, beanbags, sensory toys and other things to help people relax.

Yes, AutismAble offers a wide range of full time and part-time courses. Please check our courses section for further details.

Yes, some our additional EmployAble and AchievAble sessions can be accessed using Direct Payments.

You have to be 16 to attend our educational courses and AutismAble supports people of all ages.  As long as we can meet your needs, then age shouldn’t be a barrier.

Probably. Providing that AutismAble has a course that is a clear progression from what you have done in the past, then it is likely you may be eligible to apply .

If you are not eligible to attend Education Courses then it may be possible to attend one of our Direct Payments pathways.

If you are aged 16-25 you may be eligible to apply for a weekly bursary to help with travel and other costs associated with learning.  If you think you are eligible, your support worker will help you apply.

All learners and service help us to create a personal centred support plan so we can best meet your needs. All learners have access to a named Support Worker and Mentor. Other support may come from classroom scribe, weekly 1:1 sessions, classroom support, support to learn to travel independently, mindfulness sessions and support to manage your own money.   AutismAble has a large bank of specialist resources including Dragon Software, iPads, sensory lights, Ear Defenders, Flash Cards and Stress Toys.
