At AutismAble CIC, we believe in empowering our members to take charge, learn new skills, and actively contribute to projects that make a real-world impact. Our latest project, ‘Think Smart’, has been a perfect example of this. With the support of our Project Coordinator, Rachel Hull, and the hard work of our group members, we’re excited to introduce The Eco Hub, a website built from the ground up during our Community Involvement Sessions.
How It All Began
The idea behind The Eco Hub was simple: to create an online space dedicated to environmental awareness and sustainability. Through our ‘Think Smart’ project, we aim to educate our group members about the climate crisis and the importance of living more eco-consciously. But we didn’t want to stop there. We wanted to give our members the opportunity to share what they’ve learned with the world and create something lasting.
From thinking about names to designing the logo and planning the website’s content, every step of The Eco Hub has been a team effort.
A Learning Experience for Everyone
For many of our members, building The Eco Hub was their first experience working on a website. They learned valuable skills like:
- Content Creation: Writing eco-friendly tips, project updates, and blog posts
- Web Design: Choosing layouts, fonts, and the overall look and feel of the site
- Branding: Designing the logo and making sure the name represented the mission of the site
- Collaboration: Working together to share ideas, solve problems, and make decisions
As well as technical skills, they’ve also deepened their understanding of environmental issues and the steps we can take to make a positive impact.
What You’ll Find on The Eco Hub
Now that The Eco Hub is live, we’re eager for everyone to explore the amazing content our members have created! The website is full of useful information and interactive elements designed to inspire greener-living. Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find:
- Eco-friendly tips

A Special Thanks
We couldn’t have made this happen without the incredible support of the Energy Saving Trust, who fund our ‘Think Smart’ project. Their support allows us to teach our members about the climate crisis and provide them with the tools and knowledge to help tackle it.
What’s Next for The Eco Hub?
The journey doesn’t end here! We have big plans for The Eco Hub, and we’ll be updating it regularly with new content, projects, and opportunities. Be sure to check back often for the latest updates and keep an eye out for the upcoming business enterprise we’re working on—it’s something we’re really excited about!
